After being raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the mountains were calling and Matt made the move to the Rockies landing in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in '99. Following many years of living the epitome of the ski town dream, Matt turned to tinkering on vehicles to fill those long dark hours of winter.
Matt's fabrication skills began by buying a 1952 Jeep Willys wagon out of a farmers field. It was a full rebuild, of not only the vehicle but of Matt's passions and skills. Matt learned he has a strong gift for design & fabrication and a natural inclination towards engineering and mechanics.
When Matt relocated to Bozeman he landed at Mike's Off Road - a premier shop for custom fabrication of hot rods and off road vehicles. It was a dream job but required too much of Matt. Moving to Montana was about committing to a better quality of life, slowing things down, and dedicating time to family, friends, and the outdoors. At this point Living The Dream Designs was born.
Through good fortune Matt found himself apprenticing with an incredibly accomplished artist and honing in on his craftsmanship skills. Decades of techniques and guidance were handed down to Matt molding him into the craftsman he is today.
LTD Designs is about commitment to passions, life and community. It is about finding balance, simplicity and rugged elegance in every design. It is about keeping the craftsman alive in a world of mass manufacturing and fostering the kind of world we all yearn to be apart of.
